M50 Barrier Free Tolling
Your car registration number will be logged by cameras as you pass through the toll bridge/plaza. You will be liable for a ?3 euro toll which you can pay online with a credit or debit card at eflow.ie or by telephone on 1890 50 10 50. Or payments can be made by cash or card at Payzone outlets (many newsagents and convenience shops). You must pay before 8pm the day after you use the M50 otherwise penalty charges kick in. (As much as 143 euro !)
If you have a hired car, check with them beforehand about the best way to pay the toll as you could be charged higher fees for unpaid tolls.
There is only a toll if you have to cross the Bridge at the River Liffey. If you are coming from the South and are travelling Southbound there is no fee.
If you are coming from the South and are travelling Northbound to the Airport you will have to pay the fee.
Airport Bus
Aircoach have a Bus Service Direct from the Airport to Dalkey, stopping in Dun Laoghaire through the Port Tunnel €10 Single €16 return, it runs 24 hours a day. Please check the Aircoach website for rates and times.
The bus stops at the Crunch Fitness Centre on Marine Road in Dun Laoghaire on the way from the Airport and returns to the Airport from outside the Town Hall on Marine Road in Dun Laoghaire (about a five minute walk).
Directions from Dun Laoghaire Aircoach Stop and DART (Train) Station
When you arrive in Dun Laoghaire, walk/drive up Marine Road,
Turn left into George’s Street,
Take the 3rd turn right into Corrig Avenue (just past McDonald’s)
We are opposite the Garda Station and Courthouse.
By Taxi
Do Not Allow the Taxi Driver to Take the M50 Route
Only take a taxi if you have to, we would recommend the Aircoach Bus Service as the best way to travel.
Please agree the cost of the trip to Dun Laoghaire before you commence the journey from the Airport by taxi.
A taxi will cost around €60 for 2 passengers and takes approximately 50 minutes.
You might be asked which route you would like them to take: Take the route via the East Link Toll Bridge, and if it is late evening or weekend take the Port Tunnel as well.
The route via the M50 is twice the distance as the route via the East Link Toll Bridge, and therefore can cost twice the price.
If you feel you have been overcharged, get your receipt and we will check with the taxi carriage office. Taxi drivers are obliged to give you a receipt
By Car from Dublin Airport
M50
Long delays are no longer a feature of the M50 now that there is Barrier Free Tolling. Take the M50 Southbound. You will see many exits for Dun Laoghaire. Wait until EXIT 16. This exit is the nearest to our house.
Turn off Exit 16 at Cherrywood and follow the R118 to Dun Laoghaire.At the second roundabout stay on the R118 onto Lwr Glenageary Road.
At the traffic lights turn left into Corrig Road. Take the 3rd turn right into Corrig Avenue. We are on the left hand side, just opposite the Garda (Police) Station.
Alternate Route from Dublin Airport Via the Port Tunnel and East Link Toll Bridge. Please check www.dublinporttunnel.ie for the tolls and times
Follow the M1 towards Dublin City. You will come across the signs for the Port Tunnel. If you wish to go via the tunnel keep in the right hand lanes.
If you do not wish to take the tunnel keep in the left hand lane when you see the signs for the Tunnel. Follow the signs for the East Link Toll Bridge,
You will pass by the entrance to Dublin Port, on the way to the East Link Toll Bridge. Follow directions to Dun Laoghaire from Dublin Port.Directions from Dublin Port
If you are arriving into Dublin Port, turn left out of the Port to the’East Link Toll Bridge’.
When you cross the Toll Bridge follow the signs for Dun Laoghaire.
